CASA Interns |
Interns at Athens-Oconee CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) learn valuable information about the juvenile court system, DFCS policies, and advocacy for children in foster care. They work under the supervision of our Program and Advocacy Coordinators by attending community meetings, court hearings, and planning program events.

Interns will assist the Executive Director and will have the opportunity to better understand for non-profit best practices, human resources, program management, board functioning, products, volunteer management, fundraising, and etc. The volunteer hours would be from 10-25 hrs a week. This is currently an unpaid internship, but we will help with class credit and potential funding through the University. This position can be virtual, hybrid and/or in-person.

This Internship provides support to the SafeCare Home Visitor. Duties involve clerical and service support, child development research, creating service plans for families, and other projects as assigned. Other projects may be related to SafeCare, or may be for other Children First programs such as CASA or Family Time. The internship is approximately 5 -10 hours per week, but can expand to 20 hours per week if desired.

The social media intern will be responsible for managing and maintaining the Children First website and blog, Facebook, and Twitter pages along with any other social media initiatives that may be utilized. They would create and post content on social media platforms from the social media calendar. They would be strongly encouraged to attend events through-out the week to capture content and experiences and attend weekly staffing meetings and monthly Social Media collaboration meetings. Ideally, the intern would work approximately 10-25 hours per week, with majority of the internship being virtual. Some hours may be evenings and weekends. Although this is an unpaid internship, we will be willing to work towards class credit. ![]()
This internship provides opportunities to interact one on one with clients. Interns will also be involved in program maintenance and decision making. The intern will also have interaction with the other Children First programs in a support role. This internship is flexible on time but can be between 10-24 hours a week. ![]()
This internship position provides the intern with a unique opportunity to get a deep insight on how to effectively manage and support a nonprofit organization. Where they will have the opportunity to better understand for non-profit best practices, human resources, program management, board functioning, products, volunteer management, fundraising, and etc. Work will be done in person with weekly check-ins. Individuals who have a passion for social work, nonprofit management, a positive attitude, and have a strong desire to help the Children First vision become a reality, will thrive in this position. Interns will work 15-25 hrs/ week between 9-5pm Monday through Friday.
