CASA Interns

Jeanie Kim

Jeanie is a third year honors student at the University of Georgia, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Political Science. She plans on attending law school after her undergraduate studies. Jeanie is looking forward to learning more about the foster care system this semester. ​

Kierstyn is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia graduating in December. She is studying Psychology and Human Development with hopes to attend law school next fall. She is so excited about this internship opportunity and to learn more about child welfare in an experiential learning setting. ​

Madison is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia, majoring in Social Work. She hopes to begin her Masters in School Counseling next year, once she finishes her undergraduate studies. Madison has always felt called to serve others and she is excited to be at Children First and to be a part of something that is bigger than herself.

Addison is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia, majoring in Social Work. She can’t wait to be able to see the macro-level side of social work and non-profit management over the course of the next year working under Susie Weller. Addison looks forward to see the growth of Children First over the next year! ​

Molly is a third year student at the University of Georgia, majoring in International Affairs and Criminal Justice, while also pursuing her Masters in International Policy through the Double-Dawg program. Post-graduation, Molly hopes to move to Washington D.C to pursue a career there. She’s always had a passion for helping others, so she is excited to give back to a city that has given her so much! ​

Khushi is a second year student at the University of Georgia. She hopes to eventually pursue a career as a Human Rights Lawyer. In her spare time, Khushi enjoys reading, working out, and being a major foodie! ​

Taylor is an undergraduate student at the University of Georgia double majoring in Political Science and Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Law, Jurisprudence, and the State. After graduation, she plans to attend law school and have a concentration in Family Law. Taylor is looking forward to learning about the behind the scenes workings of non-profit management with Children First while working towards a cause that she is so passionate about. In her free time, she likes to love on her friends and family, be involved in her many extracurriculars at UGA, and travel.


SafeCare Interns

Skyler Harris

Skyler is a fourth year student at the University of Georgia, majoring in Social Work. She is interested in working with people from a variety of different backgrounds in order to understand the constraints that each population faces, so that she can prompt equality for all. In her free time, Skyler loves watching basketball and listening to different podcasts. After graduation, she plans on pursuing her master's degree in social work.

Molly Holcomb

Molly is a second year at the University of Georgia, double majoring in International Affairs and Health Promotion, with a minor in Spanish! She will be joining the Children First team as a SafeCare Intern. Molly is excited to be able to serve the Athens community through her work with SafeCare.

Shelby Pluger

Shelby Pluger is currently an MSW student at The University of Georgia! She received her undergraduate degree in Human Services from Kennesaw State University. Upon graduation, she hopes to work closely with foster youth. Her previous internships involved work with both the foster youth population, as well as victims of sex trafficking. In her free time, Shelby works at Marshalls and spends time with her pup, Bentley. She moved to Athens with her boyfriend almost a year and half ago, and given the reality of moving during a pandemic, she is still learning her way around Athens! Shelby is so happy to be at Children First for this school year and cannot wait for all the experiences that are to come!


Sparc Interns

Molly Kish

Molly Kish is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Georgia and majoring in psychology. She is working in the SPARC program as an intern by helping provide legitimation services to illegitimate fathers. She also assists other non-custodial parents gain visitation opportunities. She feels helping families establish connections is important and fulfilling work. Some of Molly’s passions include rock climbing, hiking, and running.  ​

Kara is a graduate student at the University of Georgia’s School of Social work. Kara received her undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s in Child and Family Development. Kara is excited to be able to advocate for the individuals in the Athens community.  ​
